MRL (Machine Room Less) Elevators are a type of either Gearless traction or hydraulic elevators which do not required machine room for the elevator.
MRL elevators do not have a fixed machine room on the top of the elevator hoist way, instead the gearless traction machine is installed on the top side wall of the hoist way and the hydraulic power pack is installed on the bottom floor near about the hoist way.
In hydraulic machinery which includes the power pack, valve system and controller installed on the bottom floor near about the hoist way.

Gearless machine is one of the most popular segments for Low to mid rise building.
The gearless traction machine manufactured using a permanent magnet which sticks the motor permanently and works with variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) Drive.
In traction MRL segment the gearless machine installed on the top of the hoist way wall and the main controller is installed either on the top floor next to the landing doors or in the top of the hoist way side wall.

MRL Hydraulic Elevator
The principle of the hydraulic lift operation is simple. Cabin is driven up by the piston working under pressure fluid pumped. Downward movement is possible due to the gravity forces, with no power consumption of the motor and fluid returns back to the power unit container. The precise movement of the cabin in both directions is electronically controlled by the valve block.
The hydraulic elevator segment allows the architects to optimize the building’s space and increase usable/ residential surface of the building. It required minimum pit and over head height.
